Friday’s one-hour emphasised the ‘centre-line’ of the body, as the point from power and speed originated (hara).
NKZN JKA’s Sensei, Johan Swart said that for full impact, accurate strikes and blocks, all actions and reactions were most effective when combined with the correct use of hip movement.
He said it was critical to plant the feet firmly to ensure good balance and posture. Saturday morning’s training session, open to black belts and adult brown belts, followed up on the previous night’s class, emphasising kihon (basics) and kata (sequence of moves) through continuous practice and training.
