Endumeni Residents want an audience with Council to discuss ‘calamitous forensic report’
The Council is expected to sit on Tuesday where the report will be tabled and COGTA needs to have a response from Council within 21 days from last Tuesday when the report was given to the ‘closed-door meetings’.
The Residents Association has requested an audience at the next Council meeting where the forensic report into corruption in the municipality will be tabled.
The KZN Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, COGTA, released the weighty report into ‘maladministration and irregular expenditure’ at Tuesday’s in-committee meeting.
Later, COGTA said the report fingers at least one Councillor and some officials – some of whom have already left Endumeni – in shady deals including a R50 000 donation to a church that does not exist.

There are also questions on money spent on security for Councillors.
FC Bester said residents have had enough of corruption at Endumeni and demanded that those named in the report be charged and appear in Court ‘for all to see’.
“The money misappropriated must be recovered. The rates in Endumeni – especially the business rates – are unaffordable. Electricity tariffs have also rocketed and no one seems to have answers. I want to address the Council and explain to them the enormity of the situation.”
