Fed-up Browning Street residents block road in protest against trucks

Residents say the issue has been going on for over 10 years

Browning and Beaconsfield Streets were blocked this morning by residents who say they are fed up with the dust from the coal trucks and trucks that do not stick to their prescribed route by going up Beaconsfield Streets.

Police monitored the scene but soon left. Traffic chief, Alfred Nsibande, arrived and swiftly intervened to restore calm.

Mine officials, residents and the municipality are to meet soon to solve this long-outstanding issue.

See Wednesday’s Courier for more details.
