Club Drawn Pairs dominate the field at Newcastle Bowling Club

The FedAuto Business League is reaching its closing stages with two more rounds to play before the finals evening.

Newcastle Bowling Club held its Club Drawn Pairs competition last weekend with a field of five womens and 12 mens teams.

The women played a round robin format and after the completion of four rounds, no team remained unbeaten.

Having only lost one game and with the best shot difference, Samantha Shaw and Marie Botha were declared the winners (6 + 41) followed by Michelle Steele and Tara Hartman (6 + 18) who had also only dropped one game.

The men were divided into four sections with the winners of each section being Stephen Shaw and Alex Zaal, Trevor Smale and Aspen Shaw, Mike Martens and Sampie van der Berg and Lou Roux and Adrian van der Merwe.

In the semi-final games, Trevor and Aspen got the better of Stephen and Alex while Lou and Adrian accounted for Mike and Sampie to set up the final, which will be played on Sunday morning.

A number of teams are still in contention for the top spots.

In Section One, Darrel Browl’s Ladies are leading (9 + 73) followed closely by Melo’s (9 + 72), Putt Putts (9 + 33) and Do It Again (9 + 8).

Four teams remain unbeaten in Section Two: Farmyard (9 + 56), Hackers (9 + 52), Team Magnum (9 + 51) and Bi Agri Smart (9 + 43).
