You can now get your water bill via email

Residents have complained of not getting bills in the post

Water bills are not being paid because customers have not received accounts.

The Courier has received many complaints from residents over the past few weeks who say they ‘have not received water bills from Umzinyathi for months’.
“How can we pay when we don’t know how much we have consumed or how much we owe?
“Now, we will end up with arrears through no fault of our own,” said one resident who did not want to be named.
Nomonde Nzimakwe, Umzinyathi  District Municipality, spokesperson, confirmed there had been ‘a slight problem with the Post Office (regarding the posting of water accounts to customers in the area) which has since been sorted and we are just waiting for confirmation.
“Residents can also register their email addresses at Customer Services to receive their accounts via email or come straight to our offices in the Princess Magogo building on Victoria Street.”
