Transnat Knock Out Eliminator
The top four will move into the semi-final on 3 February 2019 at Richgate where Ladysmith will take on Challengers while Breakwaters will be up against their sister club, Stillwaters.
Competition within the ranks of the APL is becoming intense due to the determination of the affiliates as each round of the competition progresses.
The first round of the Transnat KO Eliminator was held at Sandford on 11 November.
Ladysmith AC topped the log with 71 pts; followed by Breakwaters (66 pts); Stillwaters (42 pts); Challengers (36 pts); Dannhauser (26 pts) and Glencoe (7 pts). The top four will move into the semi-final on 3 February 2019 at Richgate where Ladysmith will take on Challengers while Breakwaters will be up against their sister club, Stillwaters.
The “Angler of the Day” was Sathar Khan of Ladysmith AC who scored 10 pts winning the red cap, outright trophy and R200. He caught a “whopper”, a carp of 4,232kg which places his contention for the incentive prize of R500 for cracking the 4kg mark. The fish was safely released. The overall leader hails from Stillwaters AC, Yudveer Naransamy (30 pts) followed by Ramil Juggan (LAC) with 28 pts and Mohamed Mia (CAC) on 22 points.
The title contenders thus far:- Sathar Khan (LAC) (Heaviest Scaled Fish – carp of 4,232kg); Sagie Moodley (BAC) (Heaviest Non Scaled Fish – Barbel of 5,822kg); Ashley Baijnath (SAC) (Rare Specie – Kurper of 566g); Talia Boodhoo (SAC) (Junior and Lady Angler of the Year); Cyril Appalsamy (SAC) (Senior Angler of the Year) and Yudveer Naransamy (SAC) (Angler of Year).
This season, the prizes have been made rather lucrative with the top three anglers winning themselves R3 000, R2 000 and R1 000 worth of angling tackle respectively with the compliments of the APL and Mohamed Midas. The “Angler of the Year” will win tackle voucher worth R3 000 and family weekend at Chimani Resort on the Vaal River sponsored by Andre Bait and Tackle. The next competition of the APL will be the VME League 4 at Richgate Park on 25 November 2018. Predicting the winner will be difficult as some competitions have produced some surprises and the moment of truth will be after the weigh-in.
