N3 re-opened after protesters block roads at Howick

SAPS, N3TC, RTI and emergency services worked tirelessly throughout the night and managed to bring calm to the area

Violent protest action erupted last night (January 10), which forced the closure of the N3 at Howick.

Angry protesters threw stones at vehicles and torched a truck.

SAPS, N3 Toll Concession (N3TC), RTI and emergency services worked tirelessly throughout the night and managed to bring calm to the area.

N3TC, which manages the route between Cedara and Heidelberg in Gauteng, tweeted this morning (January 11) that all lanes are open and traffic is moving smoothly.

It is believed that the protest is related to service delivery issues.
