20-year records smashed at Sarel athletics meeting

The sports season at Sarel Cilliers officially kicked off with the annual inter-house athletics. House Cilliers took on House Maree for a day of amicable competition.

One can only envision the aches and pains that had to be treated over the weekend.
On Saturday Sarel Cilliers’ athletes took part in the Endumeni trials. There are several rising stars to keep an eye on: Bandile Mdluli and Olwethu Mdinisi left the other 100m and 200m athletes in their dust and Dihan Kruger really did well in the discus.
Many of the other athletes were also selected to go to the Umzinyathi trials on February 2. The Blue Machine lived up to its name. Bandile Mdluli smashed the 20-year-old 100m and 200m records. Congratulations!
Maths Literacy Award
Sarel Cilliers excels in the Math Literacy 2018 Matric Exams. Sarel Cilliers high was placed first in the Endumeni Circuit for producing outstanding Math Literacy results. The class averaged 55% with 71 of the 72 learners passing. Majority of the learners produced symbols in the higher echelons. The subject advisor, JAV Xaba commended the school and the two Math Literacy educators, Mrs Ramdeyal and Ms Bierman, for their hard work and dedication.
Top achiever was Anele Dlamini.
Congratulations to all concerned. The same is expected of the class in 2019 where they are challenged to obtain a 100% pass.
