Especially so for the Estcourt Round Table whose members made fond memories there when it was a clubhouse.
Once the members were instructed to vacate the municipal-owned property, it soon became a place of refuge for vagrants.
On the afternoon of January 5 a fire razed the building, completely destroying its entire contents.
Inkosi Langalibalele Municipal Manager Patrick Mkhize confirmed this and has provided follow-up information, which was requested soon after the fire.
“On arrival at the Inkomfe Care Centre, the fire department saw the house was alight and engulfed in smoke and flames. The fire crew suppressed the fire and prevented the fire from spreading to other nearby properties,” he said.
Mr Mkhize added that at this stage the cause of the fire is unknown.
