‘Hutties of Character’ school programme launches

During a colourful, and spectacular event Huttenpark Primary School launched its ‘Hutties of Character’ programme.

Safety and law enforcement officials including Fire Services, the Traffic Department, SAPS and Mercy Care were also involved, and proved once again they are committed to serving the community.

Learners, parents, staff and members of the school governing body attended the ceremony, to bear witness to the launch of this unique programme.

Proceedings started with a formal handing over of a Character Pledge by one of the Huttenpark learners on horseback, to Principal Neiel Grobler.

After conveying the message to the crowd, everyone learned more about the values and their associated colour:

  • Yellow – respect
  • Red – caring
  • Blue – trustworthiness
  • Green – responsibility
  • Orange – fairness
  • Purple – citizenship

Mr Grobler then presented each grade head with a copy of the pledge and gave them the responsibility, in cooperation with other staff, to teach these values to the children so they could one day become citizens with exemplary values – just what is needed in this beautiful country.
