Karate Championship
Samiksha Ramballie and Taashlin Soobramoney, who both achieved their South African colours last year, received two gold medals and a silver and bronze medal on Saturday. The tournament was held in Newcastle and both will represent KZN in the South African karate championship at Ellis Park in May. Sarel Cilliers wishes them all of the best.
Hockey
The first girls’ hockey team together with the first netball and 2nd and 3rd rugby teams travelled to Wartburg over the weekend to participate in the Wartburg festival. The hockey had a good pre-season tournament where they played 4 games. They managed to win 2 and drew 2.
Netbal
Saterdagoggend douvoordag het die bus met slaperige onderwysers en spelers na Wartburg vertrek om aan die sportdag deel te neem. Daar aangekom het almal opgewonde uitgespring om die dag aan te pak.
Die eerste netbalspan het vyf wedstryde gespeel waarvan hulle 3 oortuigend gewen het. Twee van die wedstryde is op Wartburg se nuwe binnenshuise bane gespeel wat nuwe ervaring was. Celestine en Asimethemba het pragtige doele gegooi terwyl Mlando telkens die bal by die ander span se pale omgedraai het. Al vyf wedstryde was baie aanskoulik. Die spelers wil graag die ander spanne bedank vir hulle ondersteuning langs die bane.
Action Cricket
On February 26, Sarel Cilliers B team took on Buffalo Coal. The boys played an excellent match and their fielding skills left all spectators astonished. Top Batsmen were Bonga and Nikhil who hit a score of 43 runs in just 4 overs. Top bowler was Taashlin who took 5 wickets in 2 overs. The Sarel Cilliers A team took on Scopa’s. Top batsmen were Willem and Zandrè who hit 50 runs in 4 overs.
Top bowler was Mfundo with 3 wickets in two overs.
