On Saturday, March 9, the first netball team travelled to Voortrekker High in Pietermaritzburg to take part in the annual Voortrekker Sports day. This year had a lot more excitement than previous years. They played many games and the scores were as follows: DHS lost against Kuswag 3 – 15; DHS won against Suid Natal 14 – 0; DHS won against Wartburg 14 – 2; DHS lost in the quarterfinals against Durban High School 5 – 7.
It was a wonderful day filled with lots of excitement and excellent displays of talent. The highlight of the day was when two of DHS’s girls, Asanda Thungo and Penny Parmisser were identified as having exceptional talent in the game. They were personally invited to join the Vision Sport u/16 2019 tournament that will take place in Mauritius during September.
This tournament gives them the opportunity to take part internationally as well as enjoy one-on-one specialisation sessions with Elize Kotze and Erin Burger.

Fun and games at Dundee Bowls Club in the name of hockey
On Saturday, March 9, the DHS first hockey teams hosted a very successful bowls day in collaboration with all the seasoned bowlers of Dundee. It was a lovely day filled with interesting shots and lots of expensive lessons learned. The DHS hockey players would like to thank everyone who took part to help make the day a huge success. Well done to Mr Haschke and his team for winning the day, Sylvia Malan and her team for ending second and the Rotary Team for finishing third. The day was all in the name of a good cause and the teams raised a substantial amount of money to help with their tour fees which are R2 900 per player this year.

Asanda Thungo received a personal invitation to play in a netball tournament in Mauritius.
