Protest against mass retrenchments at Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality

Municipal staff belonging to Imatu are picketing peacefully outside the civic building

The Independent Municipal and Allied Workers Union (Imatu) members are opposing the mass retrenchments undertaken by the municipality by undertaking protest action.

Last year the municipality gave notice to Imatu that it intends on retrenching 248 employees to cut costs as the municipality is trying to recuperate its financial losses.
