Rate-paying residents often scoff at the level of service received from Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, with some residents opting to pay the cost for maintaining verges outside their property.

This year is no different. Long grass in residential and central business district areas is a common sight.

In February this year, the municipality outlined their programme for grass cutting and tree felling in certain areas, these mostly included public spaces like sports fields, parks and halls and would be reportedly carried out in Estcourt, Weenen and Wembezi.

There was no mention about when the grass will be attended to in residential areas and many residents are asking this question.

It has been almost a month since the Estcourt News asked the local municipality about the plans for grass cutting and despite several follow-up queries; no response was received at the time of going to print.
