Dr Bedassi has resigned as the Councillor of Ward 7, Glencoe, as of March 31. He explained that the reason for his resignation is due to the fact that he is relocating.
“It is not a political move of any sort. I am only resigning because my wife and I are relocating to Howick because of compelling reasons such as her health.
“My wife had a brain operation back in 2017 and has constantly been seeing specialists for check-ups. We decided to stay closer to medical facilities so that we don’t have to travel every time she has to see a doctor.”
Speaker Lucky Khumalo said: “Due to Cllr Bedassi resigning Ward 7 is now left without a councillor. We will wait until the IEC declares his post vacant then the Council will elect a person who will be a caretaker until the by-elections for Ward 7.”
