Some of the concerns are the state of the fire fighting equipment and firefighters’ ability and resources available to fight fires within the Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality.

To add to these worrying concerns, the dry fire season is on the doorstep.  Not only are uncontrolled fires extremely dangerous but can also cause residential, industrial, financial damage and loss of lives.

Locals are afraid of the thought of an emergency or disaster in an informal settlement and responders are not immediately available.

The Estcourt News has asked the municipality what their fire fighting resources are available and what is the capacity is to fight household and industrial fires, no reply was received.
