More delays plague decision on municipal retrenchments in Estcourt

248 employees could be laid off to cut costs as the municipality is trying to recuperate its financial losses

The long-awaited Task Team, meeting to discuss the proposed retrenchment of 248 employees at the Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality was held on April 24.

A report was presented by the municipal Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Municipal Administrator Dumisani Vilakazi
However, the report was incomplete once again.

Mr Vilakazi requested that the CFO be given an opportunity to finalise the report, which will be circulated to Task Team members together with a proposed organisation structure.

He also suggested that the facilitation meeting scheduled for April 30 be delayed to allow time for the Task Team to finalise its task.
