NRS choir performs at ATKV Applous competition

Despite being the first choir to perform, the NRS choir held its own and looked like winners, and its hard work has certainly paid off.

Miles Davis once said: “Don’t worry about playing a lot of notes. Just find one pretty one.”

May 2 saw the New Republic School (NRS) choir take part in the ATKV Applous competition, held at Empangeni High School.

“We were treated to a lot of pretty notes in this prestigious event,” said NRS representatives.

Despite being the first choir to perform, the NRS choir held its own and looked like winners, and its hard work has certainly paid off.

“We are extremely proud of what the choir achieved.”

The finals will be held in Bloemfontein in June and NRS is hopeful its choir will be selected for this event.

The school extended a special thank-you to the parents: Mrs Klynsmith (VHS), Mrs Upton (EHS), Uyanda Msane (EHS), Mrs Zungu, Miss Upton, Mr Mdlalose and last, but certainly not least, Mrs Grobler for an amazing night of notes and trebles.
