Soul Buddyz aim to protect Goqo Primary
Soul Buddyz decided to get a head start and set the mood for the annual campaign earlier.

Goqo Primary School commemorated Child Protection Week last week. The school’s Soul Buddyz team spearheaded the event and the theme was ‘Join hands for children’.

Although celebrations will officially start on May 28, the Soul Buddyz decided to get a head start and set the mood for the annual campaign that looks deeper into the protection of children throughout the country
Assisted by the District PsychoSocial Support Department, the team invited different departments to visit their school and talk to learners and teachers about how children could be kept well protected.
Social worker Miss H Mkhonza spoke in depth about children’s rights, emphasising that every child has the right to be protected from maltreatment, neglect and being degraded in any way.

School council member Mrs EA Du Ploy spoke about how rape is one of the worst forms of child abuse the country faces. She shared with everyone the immediate steps that should be taken when a person has been raped.
The Soul Buddyz rendered a music item and the school’s principal Dr TP Nkosi thanked all the departments that were present as well as the teachers and learners for their dedication towards making the day a success.
