Speakers give voice to Dundee High School

Eight learners from DHS participated and set the bar very high indeed.

Public speakers have given sonorous acclaim to Dundee High School.

The South African Literacy Association (SALA) Public Speaking Competition took place on May 11 in Newcastle.

Eight learners from DHS participated and set the bar very high indeed.

Each of these learners received an achievement award, and now DHS eagerly awaits the announcement of who will take part in the next round.

Congratulations to the following: Arish Balgobind, Ayanda Qwabe, Aaliyah Khader, Akira Dheena, Chirag Singh, Siphesihle Mapalala, Sihle Khumalo and Kaitlin Munsamy.

Netball Trials: Congratulations to Aphelele Zwane and Thandolwethu Biyela, who were selected for the under-19 Umzinyathi netball team.

Hockey Trials: Well done to the two DHS boys selected for the u-16 and u-19 Inland sides respectively: Amahle Mdubeki and Nqubeko Mngomezulu.

Sport against Ferrum: On Saturday, DHS hosted sport against Ferrum High School and the scores were as follows:
Rugby: u-14 lost 19 – 0, u-15 lost 14 – 7, u-16 lost 13 – 0, second team lost 17 – 10, first team won 39 – 18.
Netball: u-14A lost 14 – 18, u-14B won 9 – 4, u-15A won 21 – 18, u-15B lost 12 – 15, u-16 lost 5 – 33, second team won 15 – 9 , first team won 27 – 23.
Girls hockey: u-14 lost 0 – 3, u-16 lost 0 – 1, second team lost 0 – 2, first team drew 1 – 1.
Boys hockey: second team lost 0 – 1, first team won 4 – 3.
