Cable break puts communication on hold

Openserve anticipates the repair will be completed today, and services should be restored by close of business.

The Dundee area is without telephone lines and dial-up internet services, due to a damaged fibre optic cable.

Many business owners and residents are frustrated with the situation, which has also reportedly affected parts of Newcastle.

A spokesperson for service provider, Openserve told the Courier the cable break was reported between Dannhauser and Ballengeich. The cable, which was damaged by an unknown party, is under repair by company technicians. Openserve anticipates the repair will be completed today, and services should be restored by close of business.
