Miss Pionier 2019 wages war against plastic waste
Unless mankind makes a concerted effort to curb the excessive production of non-biodegradable waste products, the future may be grim.
With the future of the planet at stake, one often wonders what state the world will be left in for the next generation.
Unless mankind makes a concerted effort to curb the excessive production of non-biodegradable waste products, the future may be grim.
At Pionier High School, the next generation has decided to step up to the plate as it were, and has taken an active role in preserving the planet for themselves, and those to follow, by focusing on recycling plastic waste.
The school has also become involved in the Ecobricks project, featured in last week’s edition of the Vryheid Herald.
Miss Pionier 2019, Charisma Bezuidenhout has encouraged pupils of the school to stand up for the planet, and be accountable for their future.

By recycling their plastic waste in the form of Ecobricks, the school has already begun to make a difference in their own way, even prior to the announcement of the Ecobrick collection campaign for the Wild Animal Trauma Centre and Haven (WATCH) in Zaailaagte.

Due to the pressing need for Ecobricks to build the baby vervet monkey enclosure, the school has pledged to continue with its existing Ecobrick project, in order to assist Bruce and Sandi Cronk in reaching their target of 1 500 bricks.
