Riverdale Primary School learners were in for a treat last Wednesday.

Durban’s Nokulunga Khuzwayo decided to commemorate her 38th birthday doing what she loves most. The 38-year old lives with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
“Living with this disorder, I decided to start up the Imvubelo Foundation and help others with similar disorders. I also campaign for various non-profit organisations,”
60 learners received underwear packs, sanitary pads, as well as 25 pairs of schools shoes, and school bags. Mrs Gamede, from Riverdale Primary School had each educator identify four of the neediest learners to benefit from the donation.
The day began with drum majorettes leading a convoy of distinguished guests to the school entrance. Various guest speakers addressed the learners on topics such as sexual abuse and bullying.
“My non-profit organisation manager Mr Mooi is a mutual friend of Mrs Gamede’s. I’m also passionate about helping children and women, and working with sexual abuse campaigns because we donate underwear packs and sanitary pads. So, this for me was a great way to celebrate and share my birthday,” explained Ms Khuzwayo.
The following day, 100 bottles of deodorant were delivered to the school for the learners.
The Riverdale Primary team surprised Ms Khuzwayo with a birthday cake as a way of saying thank you for her act of kindness.
