Watch: Tough guys pull huge guns along Murchison Street

Bystanders were seen cheering as the action unfolded

The strategies of war have changed considerably over time, and last weekend was time to relive the days of old when heavy guns had to be physically dragged up the side of hills…

The Battlefields Festival hit Ladysmith on Friday and Saturday (June 28 and 29), and a staple feature of this festival is the Gun-Run.

Saturday saw strong men pulling a huge, heavy gun down Murchison Street and back up again as part of the Community Gun-Run.

The event saw participants breaking a sweat as they huffed and heaved their way up and down the main street. Brave and fit teams from all over Ladysmith had an extremely tough but fun time, probably happy that it wasn’t a hill they had to climb instead of a smooth street.

Bystanders were seen cheering as the action unfolded, and Public Safety officers made sure that ‘gun pullers’ and motorists alike were safe while the event took place.
