67 minutes – Mandela Day is a global call to action, which celebrates the idea that each individual has the power to transform the world and the ability to make an impact. The Mandela Day campaign message is: ‘Nelson Mandela has fought for social justice for 67 years. We’re asking you to start with 67 minutes’.
Librarian, Margareet Pretorius and some of the Sarel learners took the time to visit the retirement centre in Dundee, with fresh oranges and biscuits to share, as part of the school’s 67 Minute initiative. It was a lovely experience for all.
“We hope to instill the passion for giving in our learners, and this can be achieved through experiences such as these,” said school representatives.
Sarel’s netball stars – On June 22 to 29, some Sarel netball girls attended the National Netball Under-19 Championships in Cape Town, representing the Umzinyathi District. The girls played seven matches, lost six and won one.
Fortunately for the girls, it was not all work all of the time and they had some time to explore they city, enjoying views from above Table Mountain and exploring Canal Walk. They would love to soon visit the Cape again.
