This after police nabbed him and three others on July 18 in Westville in connection with the murder of Zakhele Mazibuko, who was the publicity secretary of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).

Mr Radebe appeared alongside Nomuphmelelo Zandile Sikhane, Sizwe Mabaso and Celani Royal Mkhize in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court.

The charges of murder and attempted murder have been withdrawn against Mr Radebe and Ms Sikhane.  Co-accused Mr Mabaso and Mr Mkhize are still in custody facing charges of murder and attempted murder, and will reappear in court for a bail application on August 5.

Municipal Manager Patrick Mkhize said:

“All the charges were withdrawn unconditionally.”

As a result of the withdrawn charges, all the CFO’s duties resumed on Monday. Mr Radebe was offered the opportunity to comment, but declined.
