Rugby boys a force to be reckoned with

It was a gruelling set of trials where schools from all over KwaZulu-Natal played their hearts out

Monument Primary School has yet again produced rugby excellence.

The following boys were selected to represent NKZN Lammergeyers Rugby U/12 and U/13: Reinhardt Jacobsz (U/13), Sechaba Hlongwane (U/13), Meinard Kritzinger (U/13), Phiwankosi Khubeka (U/13) and Lusanda Mabizela (U/12).

They were then off to play in the KZN trials that were hosted by Pietermaritzburg Boys’ College. It was there that they stood a chance of making the U/12 and U/13 Junior Sharks teams. It was a gruelling set of trials where schools from all over KwaZulu-Natal played their hearts out.

The following boys were selected to play for the Junior Sharks at the Craven Week rugby festival in June, facing off against the toughest of opponents from other provinces.

Phiwankosi Khubeka was chosen for the U/13 A-side and Lusanda Mabizela for the U/12 B-side. Phiwankosi and his fellow U/13 Junior Sharks teammates ended up winning the 2019 U/13 Craven Week, showing that they were a force to be reckoned with.

These boys’ achievements have made the Monument family and community very proud; well done!
