The Department of Education is investigating a viral video that shows racist graffiti in a Ladysmith High School (LHS) toilet.
On Thursday, August 1, shortly after a school assembly, pupils spotted racist graffiti in one of the school toilets.
The incident was immediately reported to the school principal and the entire area was locked down, with staff and cleaners removing the offensive words that were scrawled with black polish.

However, before the incident was reported to teachers, at least one student took a video of part of the graffiti. This was released on social media several days later, instantly going viral.
Several other places near the toilet were also targeted with graffiti, ironically more explicit in nature than that in the school toilet. Graffiti on several doors featured the k-word. It is clear that more than one person was involved and that they had an anti-school agenda.
