A symphony of sound to enthrall music lovers
The 4-day programme has a little 'something for everyone' in terms of musical tastes.
Piano keys are being tuned, guitar strings tweaked and vocal chords stretched as musicians prepare for the first Soundwave Dundee music festival. 4 different venues will be used as venues over the Heritage Weekend (September 20 to 22).
Pam McFadden of the Soundwave Committee explained it has tried to be as adventurous as possible, with the Friday event at the Presbyterian Church – titled Four Seasons of Music – scheduled to include rock, popular songs and original tracks written by local musicians.
“The package will surprise and please, for sure,” enthused Pam.

Saturday’s event at the NG Moedergemeente has been dubbed a Symphony of Sound. The church offers amazing acoustics and organisers are sure it will be a stunning evening, featuring gospel music. Then there is the Dundee Street Market on Beaconsfield Street on Saturday, where ‘off the cuff’ type busking music will entertain those strolling around the stalls.
Soundwave has succeeded in putting together a truly eclectic mix of music lovers:
Humphrey Browning – who by day practices law and after-hours is not scared of a bit of Creedence Clearwater Revival; Sonja Stander – who has already recorded her own CD; Staan Sterk; John Mulhatton – the multi-talented organist/pianist; Miguel da Silva; Leslie Wentzel – who made his name with Inner Secrets and many other local bands and is a performer in his own right; Mo Karim – the founder and musician behind Inner Secrets; Vuyo – the gospel-singing parking attendant; Bob Singh – a surprise guitarist package from Glencoe; Brother Daniel and his wife Arlene – the singing duo; Tarryn McMillan (the all-too modest pianist and more) and Philippi Lee – a young up-and-coming musician and pianist.
