Saturday morning got off to a fatal start. One person was killed when three cars and a truck were involved in a crash on the R74 near Winterton at about 7.45am today (November 2).

Emergency services report that the driver of a Toyota Tazz was overtaking a truck when it collided head-on with a Toyota Corolla.

A fourth vehicle, a VW Polo, smashed into the Toyota Corolla from the rear.

With one fatality on scene, emergency services treated three seriously injured people and four others who had sustained minor injuries.

There was a total road closure for about three hours while recovery of the vehicles was done.
