Welcome rain increases water level in Klip River and allows water abstraction yet again

uThukela says the water levels in the Alfred Duma area are looking good

uThukela District Municipality released the following message on their Facebook page about the current water situation in Ladysmith and surrounding areas:

The area received good rainfall on Tuesday night (November 12) and during the week, and water levels in the Alfred Duma area are looking good.

The municipality is currently abstracting water from the Klip River abstract point to fill up the plants and reservoirs. The abstract point has been completely dried up due to the persistent drought.

The district municipality says this will have a huge relief on restricted water supply should the rainfall continue.

In Okhahlamba, water levels have also risen and their team is currently filling up all plants and reservoirs.

In Inkosi Langalibalele, the situation is stable. They have no major water issues. The only concern for them is that the water levels in the ponds feeding Ward 1 and 2 still have not risen.

The district municipality urges the community to still use water sparingly.
