Ladysmith community members unite at meeting to fight for their right to water

Water did come back in certain areas today, but it was short-lived

Community members stood together earlier this evening (January 9) when a meeting was held regarding the water issues faced by many areas of Ladysmith over the last week.

Hundreds of community members gathered at DB Service Station in Centenary Road and strongly aired their views.

Visibly angry speakers made their voices heard by stating that everyone is tired of uThukela District Municipality feeding them lies. Residents of all ages and religious backgrounds united as one and demanded their basic human right to water.

All at the meeting agreed that they are now willing to take to the streets in protest and go so far as not pay their water accounts due to the poor service they are receiving from the district municipality.

Water did come back in certain areas today, but it was short-lived, as taps are dry again in most affected areas.
