Ladysmith residents are up in arms, as they have been without water for days, with no end in sight.
In a media release yesterday (January 8) on the uThukela District Municipality Facebook page, they said their team is working tirelessly on site to have everything up and running again. They added that water volumes that should be supplied to the reservoir have not been reached due to the affected pumps.
Also in the media release, it was said that water tankers will be sent out to the affected areas as a short-term solution. However, residents say the municipality has failed in this regard, as no water tankers have yet been sent out to areas without water.

The district municipality says they expect water to be back on by the weekend in the following areas: Ezakheni, Old Ladysmith, Steadville, Tsakane and Acaciavale.
Residents have taken to social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp to air their views, and to lash out at the municipality. “We are paying for water, but we have no supply for days on end,” lamented one resident.
Acting uThukela municipal manager Mr Khuzwayo has been contacted by the Gazette and we are currently awaiting his reply with regards to the water situation in town. The Ladysmith Gazette has also requested to have a meeting with uThukela leadership to get to the bottom of the crisis facing the town.
