Pastor Bongumusa shares his gospel gift
Find out how this pastor and rising gospel artist received his breakthrough
37-year-old Bongumusa Sithole, whose name means ‘thank you for grace’, is a living testament that trials and tribulations are merely stepping stones to success. This Hlathikhulu-born man was raised to be God-fearing.

In 2008, he founded the Light of Nations International Ministries in Loskop, but it was the previous year that God spoke to him.
“It was in 2007 that God told me about preaching His word through gospel music and not just being behind the pulpit. For me, it was a calling that I had to obey and be obedient to,” he recalls.
About 13 years later, after many struggles, Pastor Bongumusa now has an album behind his name to show off his soulful voice. At the end of August last year, he released a gospel album called ‘Elakho Izwi’, which translates to ‘The Word of God’. It is not every day that someone will push on to make a breakthrough.
“I waited on the Lord and so I began to compose music while still focusing on the ministry,” he shared.
When asked what his favourite song on the album is, Pastor Bongumusa adamantly said track 2. The song he refers to is titled ‘Uyangipha Amandla’ (You Give Me The Power).
“God blessed me; He lifted me out from the low place I was in at one stage in my life and now I have this album. This is all due to His power,” Pastor Bongumusa says passionately.
He adds that he owes this achievement to the Almighty, his wife, the church, Shammah Records under Dumi Mkokstad, his fans and the community at large. The song ‘Uyangipha Amandla’ was voted the second best year-end song of 2019/20 on Ikhwezi FM.
Some of his highlights as an up-and-coming gospel artist came in October last year at the Ukuba Wena Ubungenathi Concert at the Wembezi Multipurpose Centre. He got to share the stage with big names like Nathi and Nkanyiso, Abathandwa, Mvuselelo Buthelezi and more.
More recently, he sang beside Sigwili, Thobekile, Thina Zungu, Babo, Sphumelele Mbambo and Jumbo at the Siwuphetha Ngomusa Music Festival. The album is available from online music stores. For more inflammation contact him on 079 640 0593.
