Victims of abuse can feel safer at Newcastle Police Station
There will also be assistance offered for victims of rape, domestic violence and infected with HIV/AIDS.
Victims of abuse can take comfort in knowing there is a safe place for them at the Newcastle Police Station. SAPS Newcastle Corporate Communications recently announced the establishment of its new Victim Friendly Room (VFR).
“The room is situated next to the Community Service Centre (CSC),” said SAPS Spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Ncube.
Services offered to victims will include counselling, to promote emotional wellness for individuals, groups, families, couples and communities; counselling for sufferers of depression, grief and loss, family matters and divorce. There will also be assistance offered for victims of rape, domestic violence and infected with HIV/AIDS.
Cpt Ncube encouraged the community to contact Social Worker, Jabu Makhoba on 033 394 4444 or 082 865 4745 during office hours from 7.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday for more information.
