NOTICE: Here’s what’s happening with Newcastle’s water

Newcastle Municipality is attending to water leaks around town, but says most areas should have water.

UPDATE: Water supply restored to parts of Newcastle

According to the Newcastle Municipality, water has been restored to low-lying areas in town.

In a statement issued earlier today (February 23), the municipal Communications Department revealed the following:

  • The burst pipe in Fairleigh has been fixed
  • Water supply in high-lying areas (e.g. Ridgeview) will be delayed
  • Water supply in Lennoxton and surrounding areas has been restored
  • A burst water pipe on Bird Street has been reported and is currently being attended to
  • Water supply in Madadeni, Section 4, has been restored
  • Municipal technical units are fixing a burst pipe which has affected Warda 8, 10, 17 and 32 in Osizweni
  • Municipal technical teams are fixing water disruptions in Sunnyridge.

Water leaks elsewhere in Amajuba are reportedly being attended to.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. The community will be informed of further developments.”
