SAPS clamps down on drug trade in Osizweni

After a day of raids in Osizweni, SAPS recovered six full Mandrax tablets, a quarter tablet and a crushed tablet.

Drug bust operations during March have landed suspected drug dealers behind bars.

An Intelligence Driven Operation conducted during mid-March, which saw Osizweni Crime Prevention Unit members and Osizweni SAPS reservists team up, led police members to a house in Section B.

After a raid at the property, two full Mandrax tablets and a transparent plastic bag with crushed Mandrax inside, were seized. Later in the day, the team proceeded to another house in Section B, Osizweni, where four full Mandrax and one quarter Mandrax tablet were seized.

The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is R800, and two suspects aged 28 and 37 have been arrested and charged with the possession of illegal substances.

Both suspects are expected to appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court soon. SAPS continues its investigation into these matters.
