A chain store as well as a liquor store was looted during the national lockdown

Police are investigating two cases of burglary after a chain store as well as a liquor store was looted during the national lockdown.

In the most recent case, PEP Store in Albert Street was broken into on Monday (April 20).

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Sihle Mazibuko said that entry was gained through the roof.

“The value of the stolen items at Pep is +R6 000,” confirmed W/O Mazibuko.

Earlier in the month, on April 8, a liquor store in Alfred Street was also burglarised.

Alcohol to the value of R9 325 was stolen and here too, it is believed that the suspect/s entered through the roof.
Police estimate that the incidents occurred between 8pm and 6am.
