Some parts of town are without water this morning (May 28). This after power went off in a large portion of the town last night, the reason for which is still unclear at this time.
uThukela District Municipality has released a media statement, saying that the water shortage is due to the electricity outage that occurred yesterday.
The statement reads as follows: The reason why we have experienced a water shortage in some parts of town is because of the fact that we had no electricity supply at the Ladysmith Water Treatment Works (LWTW) from 7pm last night up until 5am this morning.
Hence, it was not possible for us to supply water to the industrial area and the community. It must be said that water started to fill up this morning, thus it will take time for industries and the community to receive water.

If all goes well, the supply will be back to normal after 10am today.
“We would like to pass our sincere apologies to the affected communities for the inconvenience,” stated uThukela communications manager Jabulani Mkhonza.
