White winter wonderland on farm just outside Vryheid

Unfortunately, the flakes melted quickly, but she said "it was white as snow this morning"

Temperatures have dropped drastically and it has been raining periodically for two days now.
This morning (June 18), Chantel van der Linde reported that they received the first graupel since 1996 on their farm, Driefontein, just outside Vryheid. For those not familiar with the term, graupel is small particles of snow with a fragile crust of ice; basically soft hail
According to Chantel, the first white icicles came floating down at approximately 3am and carried on falling until about 6.40am, when it started raining. Unfortunately, the flakes melted quickly, but she said “it was white as snow this morning”.
Snow and graupel is not uncommon in Vryheid, as it has snowed on a few occasions in the past.
