Another school hit by Covid-19
The learner tested positive despite being asymptomatic

Vryheid High School acting principal Alta Nel has confirmed that they have a learner who tested positive for Covid-19.
The learner and his family are currently under quarantine. The learner tested positive despite being asymptomatic; he was screened daily at school. A Covid-19 test was done on a family member before receiving a medical procedure and the test came back positive.
The Department of Health & Safety, as well as the Department of Education, assessed the situation at the school and all Covid-19 regulations were followed. The school was initially advised to remain open, but the acting principal today (July 1) confirmed that Vryheid High has had to close until Monday, July 6.
