Dundee Police Station temporarily based on McKenzie Street

Two members have tested positive for Covid-19

The Dundee Police Station Charge Office will now be based at 86 McKenzie Street – just up from the four-way stop with Cornhill Street.

The Police Station had to be closed for decontamination after two members (one Detective and one member of the Visible Policing Unit) tested positive for Covid-19.

All officials that were exposed to the police officers were directed to undergo screening and testing as a precaution.

Plans were originally made to move the Charge Office to the S Tedpaul Building on Gladstone Street and later to a house on Boundary Road. However, both proved unsuitable and the decision was made to move to McKenzie Street.

Police explained that as a result, the phone lines would be down at this time, urging people to physically visit the charge office should they want to report a crime.

Brigadier Jay Naicker assured residents that service delivery would not be hampered during this process, adding that residents can also contact the Acting Station Commander on 079 696 3450 or the Vispol commander on 073 558 8252.
