Desperate plea for blood donors to donate

The SANBS will be in Vryheid on the following dates: - July 10 from 11am until 6pm at Klipkerk - July 11 from 9am until 1pm at Pnp - July 25 from 9am until 1pm at Pnp

The national lockdown had a negative impact on the South African National Blood Service (SANBS), and their blood stocks are declining.
Unfortunately, the winter also has an impact on donors, since they come down with flu and are unable to donate blood. It has become critical that new and healthy blood donors commit to donating blood and join the less than 1% of South Africans who donate. The SANBS is appealing to all registered blood donors to continue donations to increase the current blood stock levels.
The SANBS needs to collect 3000 units of blood on a daily basis to meet the demand.
“This is an urgent call to all who are eligible, willing and able to give the gift of blood, as you have consistently done in the months that have passed,” pleads SANBS Chief Marketing Officer Silungile Mlambo. Donors can save up to three lives, while it only takes 30 minutes four times a year to make a difference.

The SANBS will be in Vryheid on the following dates:

  • July 4 from 9am until 1pm at Pnp
  • July 10 from 11am until 6pm at Klipkerk
  • July 11 from 9am until 1pm at Pnp
  • July 25 from 9am until 1pm at Pnp
