DHS learners showing creativity in a time of uncertainty

School poets on the virus crisis...

As school is going about its normal routines, learners changing classes and absorbing information like little sponges, the Gr8s are eagerly awaiting their return to the classroom.  They were given the task to write a poem about their experiences during lockdown and this is what they came up with.  Their work reminds us that “creativity is [indeed] intelligence having fun”. Locked In. Locked Down – Tiffany Themm Gr8ed

Something happened to the world today.
A nasty bug called Covid came to stay.
They told us to wash our hands and it might go away,
But it was not enough to keep the bug at bay.
Lockdown is scary.

It has made me very wary.
Schools are closed, and the shops shut too.
At first I gave a big woohoo!
But then we were told to stay at home,
And soon I began to moan and groan.

Homeschooling started and my Mom tried her best
But she was not as good as my teachers, I must confess.
Being with my closest family keeps me safe and well
But sometimes I feel like I’m in a cell.

Scientists are trying to find a cure
I am hoping for it soon but I’m not so sure.
I wish it was over and it was all like before,
I wish to see my other family so much more.
I will never forget the day the world changed,
The memories I have will always remain.
