Bowlers pay tribute to Carel Arndt

"May his soul rest in peace and may his drives always work in his favour"

Twenty bowlers graced the greens this past Saturday to play in the third ‘Chicken Run’ since the return to bowls after the sport was ‘locked down’. The day was sponsored by Louis “Baksteen” de Jager. Two games of 10 ends were played in the 2 / 4 / 2 format.

At the end of the day, it was Dougie and Frikkie who earned themselves the dreaded ‘Stone’. Jo-Ann and Dudley finished in third place, while Willie and Elsie Pretorius took second, and the winners of the day were Desmond and Elsie de Jager.
Another Chicken Run will be played this coming Saturday, sponsored by Brokkies.

The winners of the day were Desmond and Elsie de Jager.
“We would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to a stalwart of our club and town, Carel Arndt, who passed away on Monday. Our sincerest condolences to Hannelie and the family. Carl will certainly be missed. May his soul rest in peace and may his drives always work in his favour up there in heaven!” said Tarryn Bierbaum of the Bowls Club.
