Bergville family robbed at gunpoint

Within a few seconds, the door was forced open and three unknown males invaded the home

A knock on the door at 2am was the start of a harrowing time for a Bergville family on August 1.

Police reports indicate that the family was asleep when they heard a knock on the door during the early hours of the morning.

Within a few seconds, the door was forced open and three unknown males invaded the home. The men were armed with a firearm.

“They forced the family to hand over cash. R5, 000 was taken by the suspects who also took a hi-fi, television set, two cell phones, one laptop, a remote for the gate and the keys for the parked vehicle, but they did not take the car,” explained police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi.

The suspects fled without a trace and Bergville police are investigating a case of house robbery.
