
Nine suspects were arrested aged between 22 and 59 years-old when Ladysmith Vispol members conducted a raid targeting drug dealers around Ladysmith. A raid that was conducted on last week Monday, August 3 resulted in nine suspects being arrested; amongst the suspect is a 40-year old woman who is also suspected of being a drug dealer. According to police spokesperson Captain Bongani ‘Skhindi’ Nyathi Ladysmith Acting Station Commander, Colonel Mngadi was very pleased with the arrests made by the police.
“Ladysmith Vispol members were working in the Ladysmith Central Business District (CBD) where they were targeting drug dealers. The suspects, aged between 22 to 59 years old were arrested in different places, including Lyell street taxi rank, Queen’s Street taxi rank, zucchini taxi rank, Ladysmith Truck Stop and Kandahar Avenue next to the steel bridge.”
Captain Nyathi added that different types of drugs including, Dagga, Heroin, Mandrax and Whoonga were recovered by the police.

The nine suspects appeared in Ladysmith Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 4, they were all got released on bail.
