Vryheiders want ‘Godfather’ back on the show

"We are proud of them and we need 'Godfather' back on Uzalo".

Many locals have expressed disappointment after the ‘Godfather’ character in the SABC 1 soap opera ‘Uzalo’ was killed off in the show.
Played by Sizwe Khumbuza, the ‘Godfather’ was seeking to avenge his father’s (Khathaza Khanyile) death. His character was supported by his brother, Thulane (played by Thulani Shange). Their characters were killed in the past few weeks by one of the lead actors, Nkunzi.
Khumbuza said that his character came to an end in terms of the story-line. “Our supporters need to understand that the role came to an end in the story and that’s what the contract said. I am, however, very humbled and appreciate the love and support showed by the people of Vryheid,” he explained.
Khumbuza, who has a twin brother named Lizwe, added that people should not despair, as they will be seeing him again on the screen; this time together with his brother. “There is a new show coming up, which will air on SABC 1. Both my brother and I will be on the show, and we promise that people will enjoy it!” he said.
He could not divulge the details of the show, but hinted that, “It is church related and will include music as well. We will announce it when the show is close to airing.”

The twins are also working hard behind the scenes, re-launching their clothing brand called Spadille. “All our social media pages of the brand are currently down, as we are busy with re-launching. We will open again in September,” added Khumbuza.
On working together with his brother, he said, “It is very easy to work with him, because we have been everything together for a very long time and we’re always honest with each other, whether one of us is lagging behind or doing great.”
As a staunch supporter of the twins, Vusi Gap from Bhekuzulu said he was very angry and disappointed that the Godfather’s role came to an end. “SABC 1 has never been my favourite channel, but ever since Sizwe joined the soapie, I have been following it without fail. They should bring him back, just like they did with Shaka on ‘The Queen’, otherwise a lot of people will stop watching the show,” said Vusi. He added that seeing Khumbuza on TV encouraged a lot of youngsters in Vryheid. “Seeing him on TV encouraged us and gave us hope that we can all get to where we want if we work hard. We are proud of them and we need ‘Godfather’ back on Uzalo,” he said adamantly.
