Barely two weeks after a serious accident on the corner of Fouche and Hosking Streets in Strathmore Park, the Traffic Department have reacted by  putting up a four-way stop. Workers are currently painting the lines on the road and putting up new stops signs.

The trees on the island on Fouche Street, which motorists have long complained about, have been  pruned to allow for a clearer view of the road.

Two vehicles were involved in a crash on the afternoon of February 19. One car was travelling out of Hosking Street and the other on Fouche Street. Frik Coetzee of the Traffic Department, who is on scene, said while he knows many motorists using Fouche Street  may be upset by having to stop, ‘this would certainly slow motorists down and prevent further accidents’.

“Hosking Street serves Ichthus Christian School so we have to ensure safety precautions at all schools. We urge motorists to please drive safely and work with us to keep our roads safer.” Law enforcement in the area will be instituted from tomorrow.
