VRYHEID KZN: NKZN donors are in the lead

A new initiative has been launched by the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) in the form of a ‘Text A Friend’ promotion. Donors can win a three-night stay for two, as well as a grocery voucher and a petrol voucher.

How to enter? Send a message to a friend while donating blood and challenge them to also donate. When the friend accepts the challenge and donates too during the month of March, they earn an entry as well.

Donors can ‘text a friend’ until March 31 and this is exclusive to donors in Northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The lucky draw will take place on April 1.

Blood donation statistic update from February 1 to 28:

Highway: 73.9%

Midlands: 93.3%

DBN North: 88.4%

DBN South: 88.6%

NKZN: 109.7%

Well done, NKZN donors!

One unit of blood can save up to three lives and donating only takes 30 minutes, four times a year.

To become a blood donor, you must:

– Be between the ages of 16 and 75 years old;

– Weigh 50kg or more;

– Be in good health and lead a healthy lifestyle;

– Consider your blood safe for transfusion to a patient;

– Commit to donating blood regularly.

The SANBS will be in Vryheid on the following dates:

– March 6 at PnP from 9am until 1pm.

– March 12 at Klipkerk from 11am until 6pm.

– March 13 at PnP from 9am until 1pm.

– March 20 at PnP from 9am until 1pm.

– March 27 at PnP from 9am until 1pm.
